Meet the Steve Sandberg Trio, our July Resident Band!

Steve Sandberg is a three-time Emmy-nominated pianist and composer whose career spans jazz, classical, Afro-Caribbean, and Brazilian music. Known as the musical director and lead composer for Dora the Explorer and Go, Diego, Go!, he has performed with artists including Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, Rubén Blades, David Byrne, and Bebel Gilberto.

Joining him is acclaimed Greek bassist Vasilis Koutsonanos, a graduate of Kunstuniversität Graz and founding member of the jazz quartet se4sons, who has collaborated with leading international jazz artists and performed at festivals across Europe.

Completing the trio is rising New York drummer Quinton, a Manhattan School of Music graduate and in-demand performer who has appeared at renowned venues including The Kennedy Center and Dizzy’s Jazz Club.

Together, they bring a dynamic blend of virtuosity, improvisation, and global musical influences to the stage.

Ian Muñoz is a New York City–based saxophonist and Juilliard graduate in Jazz Studies. Originally from Miami, he draws inspiration from Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Kenny Garrett, Immanuel Wilkins, and John Coltrane. He has performed with artists including Sean Jones, Tim Warfield, Vincent Herring, and Matthew Whittaker, and has toured across the U.S., China, Japan, Canada, and Taiwan.

Ahmed McLemore is a Detroit-born bassist and Juilliard master's student. A graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory, he combines a deep respect for jazz tradition with a modern artistic voice. He has performed with artists such as Terell Stafford, Eric Reed, Pasquale Grasso, Tim Warfield, and Steve Davis.

Matthew Lee is a New Jersey–born drummer and Juilliard graduate based in New York City. Raised in a musical family, he studied with leading jazz musicians including Billy Hart, Billy Drummond, and Christian McBride. He performs regularly with many of New York’s leading young jazz artists.

Isaac Byrd is a Brooklyn-based pianist, composer, and educator. After studying at the Oberlin Conservatory, he moved to New York in 2025 and has performed with Curtis Lundy, Samara Joy, Bobby Watson, and Joe Farnsworth. Meet the Steve Sandberg Trio, our July Resident Band!

Steve Sandberg is a three-time Emmy-nominated pianist and composer whose career spans jazz, classical, Afro-Caribbean, and Brazilian music. Known as the musical director and lead composer for Dora the Explorer and Go, Diego, Go!, he has performed with artists including Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, Rubén Blades, David Byrne, and Bebel Gilberto.

Joining him is acclaimed Greek bassist Vasilis Koutsonanos, a graduate of Kunstuniversität Graz and founding member of the jazz quartet se4sons, who has collaborated with leading international jazz artists and performed at festivals across Europe.

Completing the trio is rising New York drummer Quinton, a Manhattan School of Music graduate and in-demand performer who has appeared at renowned venues including The Kennedy Center and Dizzy’s Jazz Club.

Together, they bring a dynamic blend of virtuosity, improvisation, and global musical influences to the stage.

Throughout June, the quartet will perform special evenings on our stage.

Ashley Pezzotti is a rising star of the New York jazz scene, combining the elegance of classic jazz vocals with modern energy. She has collaborated with legends such as Wynton Marsalis, Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, Arturo Sandoval, Dee Dee Bridgewater and Joey Alexander.

With Dominican roots, the artist creates original music in both English and Spanish. Her rich and refined voice has been heard on prestigious stages around the world.

Ashley is also the Director of the Jazz Vocal Program at Florida International University, where she teaches young musicians.

She is featured on two Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra albums: The Ever Fonky Lowdown and Everything Changes. Currently, she is releasing new music with Club44 Records and continues to make an important contribution to the development of contemporary jazz.

On June 19, Moses Yoofee Trio will perform on our stage for the first time!

One of the most exciting contemporary jazz trios — featuring pianist and producer Moses Yoofee, bassist Roman Klobe, and drummer Noah Fürbringer — blends jazz, soul, and hip-hop elements into an energetic sound full of improvisation.

The trio won the 2024 German Jazz Award for Live Act of the Year, and in 2025 released their debut album MYT on the Berlin-based label Leiter.

Their music has already been featured at festivals such as Montreux Jazz Festival, We Out Here, and Elbjazz, while The Guardian describes their sound as “brilliantly explosive jazz.”
