On October 11, TATUZA Jazz Club will host the legendary bandleader, trombonist, and composer Fred Wesley and his group, The New JBs.

Fred Wesley is an American trombonist, composer, and bandleader who left a significant mark on the history of funk.

He is particularly known for his work with James Brown and The J.B.’s. From 1968 to 1975, Wesley served as the band's musical director, arranger, and one of its main composers. The distinctive sound of his trombone played a key role in shaping James Brown's classic funk sound.

Wesley’s musical career extends beyond funk—he has worked with George Clinton, Bootsy Collins, Ray Charles, Curtis Mayfield, Van Morrison, and the Count Basie Orchestra.

Formed in 2014, Fred Wesley Generations bridges his decades of funk experience with jazz and soul. Joining him in this project are Italian organist Leonardo Corradi and French drummer Tony Match.
